Leaving Cheyenne Mountain going to Lathrop State Park outside Walsenburg, CO

Photo essay today.  We drove for 2 hours through the mountains from Cheyenne Mountain to Walsenburg, CO.  It rained yesterday but only drizzly today.

the Aspen trees are in full color.

First we go left.

Then we go right.

A little fixer upper.

For all my California readers, look at all this water.

That is where we will be going tomorrow.  Photo taken from campsite.

Zoomed in on the Spanish Peaks.

Until next time.

  1. Absolutely your best photos yet. Good for you. I can see you are honing your composition and framing skills. Wonderful.
Isn't that snow? Get the heck out of there. I'm bettin' that even the wildlife little creatures have gone south.
All the photos are terrific. My favorites are the sheer rock cliff face with the little patches of golden growth and the one looking down the highway through the yellow trees. Of course, I am also quite fond of the crumbling house and shed. Such a shame all that great weathered wood is going to waste.

OK. About that whole buying and towing a car situation. Butting right into your business....is it really worth it? Is being able to occasionally have a car handy really worth all the expense and towing efforts? You two have made it this far without one. Just seems like a big expensive pain in the ass to me. Don't forget that the terrible gas mileage you currently get will be even worse when towing.
Well, that's all I have to say about that. .....and yes, I am prepared and willing to say "I told you so".

Thanks for the wonderful photos....keep 'em coming.
