Cochiti Lake State Park and Kasha-Katuwe Tent Rocks National Monument

We were able to get out of Albuquerque for two days after Rose died.  We went an hour north west to Cochiti Lake State park to rest our souls.  It was very quiet and restful.  I only took pictures of plants.

Pretty little rocks under plant.

Same flower but going to seed.

There's still lots of yellow flowers around.

Apache Plumes flower up close.  (Apache Plume)

Apache Plumb plant.

Coyote Melons all over the country side. (melon)

Jimson weed  (Datura stramonium)

Bread ovens in backyards of local residents.

Bread from ovens.  Yum, was it good.

Kasha-Katuwe Tent Rocks National Monument (tent rocks)

The Cotton Wood trees are putting on quite a show.
Note Cochiti Dam in background.

It's easy to see where the Rio Grand is.  Just follow the yellow trees.

It's not very often you get to see a freeway bridge.
We were on state highway 1 looking at Interstate 25.

Old church in Socorro, NM.

A little wild life.

Until next time.

  1. Love the cottonwoods. The snake...not so much. How are you coping? I like to think of our departed four-footed companions as having crossed the Rainbow Bridge and no longer suffering. Take good care of yourself.

  3. Rattlesnake....I just knew you had to see at least one somewhere on your adventure.
Are those melons edible? I probably asked you that before but you know my memory.

The rocks, the mountains, the biscuits, the Apache plume.....mesmerizing.

News from the home front....over the last 5 days we received over 5" of rain....at least up here. Haven't heard regarding your neck of the woods.

Oh, my dear!!!! You must correspond with me privately to let me know what was so scandalous in the comment you deleted.

    Happy Trails.
