Let's See Some More Cactus

We have low growing ruffely ones.  For those of you that aren't familiar with cactus, you see those brownish bumps, those are thousands of tiny stickers.  I can't call them thorns because they don't stick out, but if you brush up against them with your skin they get into your skin and they are very hard to remove, because you can't see them.  One way to remove them if they're in you fingers is to run your fingers through your hair and that helps, sometimes.

More highly visible invisible stickers.

Some grow tall.

With hair.

This one has very few spines.

This one has tons of spines.

And a dead flower from last year.

This one twists as it grows.

This one doesn't twist.

Here we have a whole family.

Two friends growing together.

Cactus love rocks.

And there are trees as well.

Close-up of trunk.

Mother with children.

Then we have the cactus that, like me, do their own thing.

Birds use cactus as a safe place to build nests.

That's all for now, thanks for reading.

Sometimes it's a good idea to look to the sky, you never know what you'll see.

Let's Catch Up a Bit

In late January we drove over to Tucson from Yuma.  My cousin flew down from Denver for moms 91 birthday.  Cousin Dana spent 5 days with us, she in a motel and we were at Gilbert Rey county park campground.  The weather was nice and warm and we had a nice visit.  Here are some pictures from our site in Gilbert Rey.

This is how the kittens explore.  Their leashes are staked in the ground, see pink,
they have enough lead to explore and get into the rv if they want or need to.

Sun eating a saguaro.

From Gilbert Rey we drove down to Why, Arizona and spent two nights, so we could go see Organ Pipes National Park The road to Why goes through some of the most beautiful saguaro forest and I have a love affair with this particular cactus but I won't post all the pictures I took, I promise.

Most saguaros hold their arms up to the sky.

Some are rebels and have to do things differently, like me I guess.

Then we have Crested Saguaros.
They figure that there is one crested saguaro for every 10,000 cactus.

Spotted this beauty along the road, and there was a place to pull off the road.

On to some pictures of Organ Pipe cactus.

Now how did this group of saguaros get in here?  Actually there are
more saguaro in the park than organ pipes.

Not the best picture but I thought is was interesting.

After we left Why we traveled down the road about 10 miles and met up with the Boondockers in Ajo for a few nights.  We're in Yuma now parked with some Boondockers on Arizona Land Trust area in the foothills.

See you later.
